Why It Is Worth Giving Time to Ourselves and to Our Therapy

In the fast pace of modern life, we often look for quick solutions: a session, a treatment, a meditation app on our phone — anything that promises instant relief. And as a starting point, this can be helpful.

However, meaningful change —whether it concerns our mindset, our habits, or our overall well-being— rarely happens overnight, especially when the issues we want to address have accumulated over time.

Real therapy is most effective when we give ourselves the time and dedication it truly requires. It is often more fruitful to commit to one method and go deeper into it, rather than constantly trying new approaches. Sometimes, even a few hours in nature —with our phones switched off, our senses tuned in to natural sounds, and our attention anchored in the present— can serve as the first fundamental form of healing.

The self is complex — a small universe in itself. And the process of change requires action, patience, and consistency. It takes time to:

Readjust: Our nervous system, emotions, and habits need repeated practice in order to integrate new perspectives and behaviors (the "21+ days" rule).

Refocus: Therapy helps us reconnect with our values, priorities, and goals — here and now.

Heal: Emotional, psychological, and often physical healing unfolds gradually. Rushing can hinder progress.

Develop and express our liberated potential: Even the most important insights are meaningless unless they are embodied in daily life. Real change requires consistency and application.

Rebalance our relationships: Our choices and growth inevitably affect those around us. Therapy teaches us how to integrate new behaviors in a positive and balanced way within our relationships.

Giving time to therapy is not necessarily about spending countless hours — it is about finding our own rhythm and respecting our personal process. It means trusting the journey, recognizing that real growth is deep and cumulative, and allowing ourselves to embrace the small, gradual shifts that lead to lasting transformation. Just as a diamond undergoes many processes before it shines with clarity, so do we.

As wise teachers have said, self-esteem is cultivated when we learn to respect the time we have been given in this life — here and now.

Investing in therapy and personal growth is one of the greatest gifts we can offer ourselves. With care and commitment, we transform not only who we are, but also the way we connect, interact, and harmonize with the world around us.
